Sex Education

Sex Education is studied as part of a structured Science course which is followed by all students throughout their stay at the school. The course follows aspects of sex education as specified in the National Curriculum Science.

In Years 7 to 9 human reproduction with the vocabulary of sex and sexual changes are covered. Throughout this course, the boys are encouraged to have due regard for moral considerations and the value of family life.

In Years 10 and 11 the Religious Education course is closely linked to the structured Personal Development course (PSHE) which covers social, moral and health education. Problems experienced during adolescence and the ways of dealing with them, the relationships with contemporaries of the opposite sex and with adults, the moral issues of sex and the Church’s teaching, marriage and the family are studied.
