All students are issued with a homework timetable at the beginning of the school year. Homework is regarded as an essential part of the learning process since it extends the work of the classroom and enables students to develop the self study skills necessary if they are to cope with the demands of GCSE and A Level.
Students in Years 7 to 11 purchase a Student Planner to enable them to record homework details and personal achievements. Parents are expected to support the homework process by monitoring the use of the Planner and providing a supportive environment where the work can be done.
In Years 7 and 8, students are set one homework per subject each week which should take approximately 30 - 45 minutes to complete. In Year 9 and above, the number of homeworks increase. In Years 10 and 11 a more flexible approach to homework is adopted as required by the demands of the GCSE course and examination work.
Homework assignments must be well presented and handed in on time. Students are encouraged to use the Resources Centre after school to complete homework tasks. A comprehensive Homework Policy Document is available for viewing at the School on request.
